Russian LNG Tanker ‘Arctic Metagaz’ Sinks Between Libya and Malta

A Russian gas ship named “Arctic Metagaz” sank in the Mediterranean Sea between Libya and Malta after sudden explosions and a big fire. Russia says Ukraine may have attacked the ship using sea drones from Libya, but Libyan authorities say the reason is still not clear.

All 30 Russian crew members were rescued safely by Maltese and Libyan forces.
The ship was part of Russia’s “shadow fleet” used to avoid Western sanctions and was carrying 62,000 metric tonnes of gas from Murmansk to Egypt. Ukraine has not officially commented, but some Ukrainian social media accounts claimed the ship is destroyed.
If Ukraine is involved, this would be a big escalation because most sea drone attacks have happened only in the Black Sea area till now.
